The South Coast Air Quality Management District (South Coast AQMD) is hosting a summit that will focus on the growing concern of blow sand and dust in the Coachella Valley, its health implications and potential strategies to mitigate its impact. Governing Board Member, Supervisor V. Manuel Perez will provide opening remarks.
Experts from South Coast AQMD, California Air Resources Board, Coachella Valley Association of Governments, Coachella Valley Conservation Commission, Riverside University Health System, Torres Martinez Desert Cahuilla Indians, and the University of California, Riverside will share insights and engage with the community in a panel discussion.
The hybrid summit will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 6 p.m. in Palm Desert. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from government agency representatives and academia about the challenges posed by blow sand and dust and its effects on air quality and public health to explore collaborative solutions. The panel discussion will include a dedicated question-and-answer session to ensure community input and dialogue.
